A-PAD Sri Lanka Responds to People Affected by Adverse Weather

Adverse weather conditions since May 15th has claimed 58 lives affecting over 400,000 people and displacing 300,000 people in 22 districts.

A-PAD SL visited locations inundated with water in Colombo and received ground reports from its Provincial Offices in the North, East and South. A-PAD SL is coordinating with relevant government agencies, military and Grama Niladharis to ensure effective delivery of relief items. The team undertook a field visit several times for needs assessments and distributions of the necessities. On 18th May, A-PAD team visited Angoda following reports of sufficient assistance not being received by the affected population. The team met with the priests in the temple which is providing support to the affected population and the Grama Seva Niladhari. Discussions underway to see possibility of directing assistance to the location.
