A series of earthquakes with magnitudes exceeding 7.0 struck northwestern Venezuela on June 24, 2026. As of July 1, the death toll has reached 2,295, with more than 11,000 people confirmed injured. Search and rescue (SAR) operations are ongoing in various areas particularly in the Caracas metropolitan region and the northern state of La Guaira. These areas suffered significant damage and the number of casualties is expected to rise further.

In response, A-PAD’s partner organization, GEA (headquartered in Turkey) dispatched an international team to the affected state and began SAR operations and needs assessments.

A-PAD plans to support the affected population through GEA.

Since its establishment in 1994, a search and rescue organization, GEA, has been providing life saving operations and relief assistance across the world. GEA is also a member of INSARAG (United Nations’ International Search and Rescue Advisory Group).
