【A-PAD Bangladesh】Capacity Building Project for the Establishment and Sustainable Management of a Multi-sector Platform for Disaster Management – 2nd year (2021 Jan. – 2022 Jan.) Project Report

2023.01.06

A-PAD Bangladesh (CIS) maintains a team of medical professionals at seven emergency disaster management centers. We share information on disaster preparedness with the local communities and conduct emergency response trainings with local NGOs, private organizations, and government agencies.

Since 2020, A-PAD has been working continuously and has created connections with stakeholders in various sectors in each region. During the massive flooding in the northeast in June, staff from the Disaster Response Management Center provided food and medical assistance to victims thanks in part to their local connections. When the cyclone struck in October, we were able to call for advance evacuation.

In attendance at the November international symposium, Japanese Ambassador Ito, A-PAD Representative Onishi, and A-PAD’s country directors talked about future prospects based on the experiences and achievements of each country.

A-PAD Bangladesh will continue to work on developing a multi-sectoral platform to promote collaboration during and after disasters.

※This project is supported by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
