Damage Assessments ( As of June 10, 2026)

As of noon on June 10, 45 deaths, more than 630 injuries, and 17 missing persons have been confirmed. The number of affected households has reached 35,673, and the affected area has expanded to 199 barangays (*the smallest administrative division and the foundational unit of local government in the Philippines). 

Currently, more than 16,300 households and 24,000 people are still forced to live in 45 evacuation centers, and another 1,800 households are receiving support outside of these facilities.

Sarangani province and General Santos city have both declared a state of emergency. In these regions, 3,169 homes have been damaged (528 of which are completely destroyed), and the civil defense department estimates that the damage to infrastructure exceeds 62.8 million pesos (approximately 160 million yen). In the education sector, 1,159 classrooms have been damaged, classes have been suspended in 182 cities and towns, and more than 3.2 million children and students have been impacted.

In many barangays within Sarangani province, power outages, water shortages, and communication disruptions are making it difficult for aid supplies to reach those affected. Local health authorities have reported that the shortage of safe drinking water and tents is particularly concerning.

A-PAD’s Philippines’ Response

Since June 8, 2026, A-PAD Philippines, and the local partners have been conducting damage assessments in General Santos City and providing emergency communication support using Starlink (satellite internet communication service). The team is continuing to gather information and preparing further assistance based on the needs identified.

The local Human Resources Network (HRN-SOX) and Holy Trinity University have launched a donation campaign for supplies such as rice, drinking water, canned goods, and hygiene products. A-PAD Philippines will soon hold a coordination meeting with relevant organizations to share information and strengthen cooperation among the aid organizations.

While there are signs of recovery in some areas, with power restored to over 90% of the initial number of affected households, many regions still require assistance amidst continuing aftershocks. Urgent needs include providing supplies and medical support to isolated areas, constructing temporary housing, and offering psychosocial support to children and disaster victims.
