At approximately 8:38AM on Jun 8, 2026 (JST), a deadly 8.2M earthquake struck off the coast of Mindanao.

As of 11AM on Jun 8, 2026, at least one fatality is confirmed and four injuries, alongside multiple reports of collapsed buildings. Assessments to determine the full extent of the damage a recurrently underway.

A-PAD immediately began gathering critical information. According to the team on the ground, extremely intense shaking was felt across Sarangani, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Davao, and the neighboring provinces. Tsunami warnings were issued for coastal areas, prompting orders for residents to evacuate to higher ground. Schools across Mindanao have suspended classes.

A-PAD Philippines plans to deploy a team to conduct assessments in hard-hit areas in South Cotabato Province later today. In addition, A-PAD is coordinating with partner organizations to provide tailored support focusing on food security, water and sanitation, emergency shelter, and livelihood support.
