On January 23, A-PAD Sri Lanka held a seminar on continuing businesses in the midst of climate change and shared information on possible impact to businesses. 50 business owners attended the seminar.

A-PAD Sri Lanka’s Country Director, Firzan Hashim, opened the seminar by highlighting the nature of climate change and stressing the importance of understanding the impact it has on businesses and taking countermeasures.

Mr. Yasangi Randeni of Aitken Spence PLC, a logistics company, presented his insights on corporate sustainability and said that as a conglomerate that brings together multiple companies in different industries, risk management is included as a business strategy. 

Additionally, Mr. Asith Silva of Dialog Axiata Plc, one of the largest telecommunications service providers in Sri Lanka’s, spoke from the telecommunications industry’s perspective on challenges and countermeasures before, during, and after a disaster.
