A-PAD Sri Lanka held multi-sector partnership (MSP) meetings in Sabaragamuwa Province in May 2026 and in Northern Province in June 2026, where participants shared knowledge and exchanged views on disaster risks and climate change responses in the region.

The MSP conference held in May at the Balangoda District Office in Ratnapura Regency, Sabaragamuwa Province, focused on strengthening coordination in disaster preparedness and relief activities. Participants included representatives from local governments, as well as organizations in the health, agriculture, and power sector. They exchanged views on challenges and directions for collaboration toward regional disaster preparedness and mitigation, such as response systems for monsoon seasons and securing safe drinking water during disasters.

The conference held in Jaffna district of the Northern Province in June was attended by a diverse range of stakeholders, including meteorology experts, water resources and food security practitioners, government agencies, universities, NGOs, fishing cooperatives, farmers, and youth. The conference aimed to deepen understanding of the local and economic impacts of El Niño and climate change adaptation measures, and featured lively discussions on strengthening cooperation among relevant organizations. 

A-PAD Sri Lanka will continue to promote collaboration with various organizations through MSP conferences to strengthen climate change and disaster resilience.
