Having presence in six countries in Asia, A-PAD has a group of staff with diverse backgrounds and expertise, each leveraging their unique strengths.

A-PAD Management Office (MO) staff visited Sri Lanka and spoke with their staff about their work.

Raeesha and Briony joined the A-PAD MO staff on a monitoring trip to Jaffna.

Raeesha

Raeesha has been with A-PAD Sri Lanka for two years. Of all the activities she has been part of so far, the one that stands out the most is her work during the Cyclone Ditwah response in November 2025.

What stands out to you the most?

– In providing emergency assistance to Cyclone Ditwah, I was involved in different activities including distributing educational supplies and water purifiers. What I remember most vividly is working with domestic and international partners to deliver the support.

Through our response to Cyclone Ditwah, the team truly experienced the strength of the domestic and international partnerships that A-PAD has built. It was an invaluable experience to witness firsthand the network and how the A-PAD platform has expanded. I was also impressed by being able to visit the affected communities and witness the impact of our work.

Do you have anything you’d like to share?

– First, I would like to thank the Japanese government and A-PAD International for supporting A-PAD Sri Lanka’s activities. The support we have received has had a significant impact in expanding A-PAD Sri Lanka’s activities.

The humanitarian sector may be shrinking, I believe we can continue our activities through partnerships. As disasters become increasingly complex, I believe it is crucial to work with various actors.

Briony

Briony joined A-PAD Sri Lanka after Cyclone Ditwah and has only been working there for about three months. We asked her about the activities that have left the biggest impression on her.

– What I remember most is visiting the areas where A-PAD Sri Lanka distributed water purifiers after Cyclone Ditwah. We visited schools after the assistance was provided and to gather feedback.

The water purifiers were not only being used at the school, but also being utilized by the community. What particularly impressed me was being able to witness how they were actually being used with care.

Do you have anything you’d like to share?

– I am grateful to everyone who has supported us so far. I hope that A-PAD Sri Lanka will continue to grow in the future.
