【A-PAD Sri Lanka】 Youth Financial Literacy Development Program in Partnership with HSBC

In July 2025, A-PAD Sri Lanka, in partnership with HSBC Sri Lanka and with the support of the Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka (VTA), launched the Financial Literacy Development Program for Youth.
The program, aimed at over 130 students at the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) in Narahenpita, Colombo, is designed to teach essential financial skills to promote long-term resilience and economic independence among young people.
The program was attended by HSBC Sri Lanka CEO Mark Surgenor, VTA Director C.J. Vidana Pathirana, and A-PAD Sri Lanka Representative Firzan Hashim. Stakeholders highly praised the initiative for its timeliness and practical impact.
Interactive workshops covered key topics such as budgeting, credit management, and financial wellness. A-PAD also emphasized the role of financial planning in disaster resilience.
Through four comprehensive workshops, the program plans to expand to multiple VTA centers in the Colombo district, targeting approximately 400 young professionals
