【Nepal】 Flash Floods – Emergency Assistance Underway (Now Accepting Donations)

On August 26, 2026, catastrophic floods struck the mountainous region of northern Nepal, causing extensive damage.
According to local media, at least 157 people have died, and approximately 400, including foreign tourists, are missing. The Japanese Embassy in Nepal has also stated that it is unable to contact five Japanese nationals and has requested the Nepalese government to conduct a search and rescue operation. In Shigatse, Tibet Autonomous Region, which borders Nepal, three people have died and 265 are missing due to mudslides (as of August 26).
A-PAD began gathering information in cooperation with Nepalese organizations immediately after the disaster. According to the Nepalese National Disaster Management Authority, settlements, roads, bridges, and power plants have been damaged, approximately 10,000 households are in need of emergency assistance, and the floods are spreading downstream, with evacuation and alert measures continuing.
On August 27, A-PAD staff is conducting assessments on the damage and implement emergency relief activities tailored to the needs of the affected areas, including medical assistance from Bangladesh.
