【A-PAD Sri Lanka】 Now Accepting Donation for Cyclone Emergency Response
2025.12.01
On November 27, 2025, Cyclone Ditwa struck Sri Lanka. Heavy rain continued over a wide area, causing large-scale flooding and landslides in many places.
The Sri Lanka Disaster Management Authority has announced that 334 people have died and 370 are missing, with approximately 310,000 households and over 1.12 million people affected (as of December 1, 2025).
Damage extended to the north, central, and capital, Colombo, and the Sri Lankan government declared a national state of emergency on November 29.
Immediately after the disaster, A-PAD Sri Lanka began gathering information and preparing for emergency relief. The A-PAD Sri Lanka Search and Rescue Team was dispatched on November 28, and has so far rescued 17 people, including one child.
In parallel with rescue operations, the team will work closely with local partner organizations to provide relief supplies and other support.
A-PAD Sri Lanka will continue its relief activities to save more lives in less time. We appreciate your kind support.
