【A-PAD Philippines】Forum – Investing in Disaster Risk Reduction for Resilience: Roles of Multi Sectors

A-PAD Philippines held a forum on February 22, 2024 in San Fernando, the capital of Pampanga province in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines, with the theme “Investing in Disaster Risk Reduction for Resilience: Roles of Multi Sectors.” The forum brought together 24 representatives from 17 organizations from a variety of fields, including government, health, civil society, academia, business, and the media – San Fernando Mayor Vilma B. Calagu also attended.
During the forum, A-PAD Philippines Executive Director, Athea Penaloza said, “Today’s forum is an important step in uniting various sectors with the common goal of a resilient region. By investing in disaster risk reduction for our communities, we are paving the way to safer, better-prepared communities.”
Throughout the forum, participants were able to deepen their knowledge of the role each sector plays in disaster risk management. A-PAD Philippines and other participants shared the need for cooperation among various sectors to effectively reduce and manage disaster risks, and joined forces to increase the resilience of communities. A-PAD renewed its commitment to approach society as a whole and is planning to hold follow-up meetings and activities to continue these efforts.
