【A-PAD Japan】 2023 Heavy Rain – Relief Items Available for Delivery in Affected Regions (through 8/31)

2023.08.10

On July 10, 2023, a heavy rain emergency warning was announced in northern Kyushu, causing landslides and flooding in various places. Water outages and flooding occurred one after another in Hokuriku and Tohoku. In August, Typhoons 6 and 7 caused flood damage.

Partnering with local governments and other aid organizations, A-PAD’s member organization in Japan, Civic Force (former A-PAD Japan), began gathering information on the damages on July 10.  The emergency team, ARROWS, dispatched a team to Fukuoka in the morning to address the needs of hospitals and evacuation centers and to provide relief items.

The online platform operated by Civic Force, Good Links, connects corporate partners looking to provide goods and services to aid organizations in need of resources. A list of relief items is available on the website.

To the areas affected by the heavy rain disaster in July (Aomori, Akita, Toyama, Shimane, Fukuoka, Saga, and Oita Prefectures covered by the Disaster Relief Act), Civic Force is offering free delivery of the goods listed on the Good Links website through August 31, 2023.

Aid organizations responding to disasters can register and are eligible to receive the service. Organizations can also send Civic Force requests for items.
