Earlier this year, A-PAD provided emergency relief assistance in response to the volcanic eruption that left the country covered in ashes. Despite communication being cut off and unable to obtain a full picture of the damages in the midst of COVID-19 restrictions, A-PAD delivered emergency relief items including hygiene kits. A-PAD is continuing needs assessments for future assistance.

“It was crucial to receive the necessary assistance at the right time. We would like to send our sincere gratitude for the support we received from Japan,” said the ambassador. A-PAD also discussed the importance of working across countries in the Asia Pacific region and how A-PAD is taking part in the efforts. The ambassador expressed his support for the on-going needs assessment by A-PAD in Tonga.
