【Regional Humanitarian Partnership Forum in Bangkok】

On 7 and 8 June, Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (A-PAD) was invited to participate in the Regional Humanitarian Partnership Forum that was organized by United Nations Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) in Bangkok, Thailand.

A-PAD’s Chairperson Faisal Djalal attended the two-day event in which more than a hundred participants from national disaster management authorities, international, regional and non-governmental organizations, and academic and research institutions took part.

The conference aimed at “strengthening national and local capacities for emergency preparedness and response, improving dialogue with and accountability to crisis affected people and promoting cooperation between diverse regional disaster management stakeholders.” Mr.Djalal took the opportunity to share A-PAD’s transnational and multi-sector cooperation among our country members in Asia Pacific region.

A side event of Connecting Business initiative (CBi) took place on 9 June 2017. CBi was launched at the World Humanitarian Summit in May 2015 to increase the scale and effectiveness of business engagement in a coordinated manner. It should strategically and holistically engages the private sector before, during and after emergencies. In the meeting, Mr. Djalal introduced to the audiences the initiatives of A-PAD and its networks in the effort of strengthening the engagement among private sectors and NGOs within A-PAD member countries.
