On April 1, 2026, representatives from the French Development Agency (AFD) and Expertise France* visited A-PAD’s Tokyo Office. They were in Japan accompanying French President Emmanuel Macron on his official visit.

*Expertise France is a public agency under the AFD Group and the second-largest international development cooperation agency in Europe.

During the meeting, the delegation introduced the organizational structure of the AFD group and its initiatives in the disaster sector. They also provided an overview of their projects in the Philippines which aim to prevent and mitigate the impact of natural disasters.

A-PAD provided an overview of their routine initiatives aimed to build cross-border cooperation frameworks and ensure rapid response during emergencies. The team also presented examples of public-private partnerships facilitated through its national platforms including the response activities for the Cebu earthquake and Cyclone Idai which garnered interest from the delegation.

A-PAD will continue to collaborate with multi-sectoral partners and to contribute in building disaster-resilient communities.
