On December 16, Typhoon Rai, locally called Odette, intensified and made a deadly landfall in the Philippines. According to the Philippines’ National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the typhoon displaced 198,000 residents.
A-PAD Philippines is mobilizing the regional platform partners in Eastern Visayas, Central Visaya, and Mindanao, collecting information from local municipalities, businesses, and NGOs. As disaster assistance coordinators, A-PAD Philippines’ staff are participating in the coordination meetings held in each region to share information with stakeholders and arrange effective and efficient assistance.
