【A-PAD Bangladesh】 Disaster Preparedness Training – Participants Feedback
2026.07.24
On July 5, 2026, A-PAD Management Office team conducted a monitoring trip in Cox’s Bazar and visited the project site where A-PAD Bangladesh team provided training with Fire Service and Civil Defense.

This training included a diverse range of participants, including young people, local NGO representatives, and people with disabilities. When the team visited, the participants who completed the training gathered to reflect on what they had learned and how they plan to apply it in their communities going forward.

Many of the participants are individuals who will continue to be involved in their local communities and take on future roles. Participants expressed a desire to spread what they learned about disaster preparedness to their communities.
Zakir Hossain

“I am a community leader in this area and also work as a local staff member for the International Organization for Migration. I was introduced to the training by an A-PAD staff member and decided to participate. During the training, I learned about responding to fires, earthquakes, and landslides. I feel that my understanding of disasters has deepened, and that there are more things we can do as a community. I also hope to continue working as an A-PAD volunteer member in the future, utilizing the knowledge and experience I gained from the training.”
Throyee Moni Dey

“ I’m from this region, and we face various disaster risks such as cyclones, storms, and landslides caused by heavy rains.
Although I had never participated in disaster preparedness drills like this before, in past disasters, some people prioritized protecting their belongings. Through this training, I learned about the role women can play in protecting their families during disasters. It was an opportunity to learn specifically about the necessary preparations to protect families – how women, who are usually well aware of their family’s situation, can assist with the evacuation of children and the elderly, and how to check in advance what medications will be needed during a disaster.”

This activity was implemented as part of a project to strengthen disaster management funded by the 2025 Japanese NGO Grant Assistance for Grassroots Project in Bangladesh.
