Thank you very much for the swift support and warm messages we have received from so many of you following the recent earthquake in the Philippines.

Following the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck off the northern coast of Bogo City, Cebu Province, on September 30, 2025, a survey team was dispatched to the affected area on October 2 to investigate the damage and needs.

The survey team is composed of diverse members, including the A-PAD Philippines, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the University of Cebu, and the Central Visayas Department of Health.

As of October 2, the number of affected households has reached 11,700. However, as city authorities are still verifying the damage in all 29 districts, the full extent of the damage is expected to become clear in the coming days. According to preliminary reports from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), 73 casualties (dead and injured) have been confirmed in the areas of Tabogon, San Remigio, Medellin, Sogod, Tabuelan, and Bogo cities.

Currently, there is an urgent need for temporary shelters, bedding sets, and hygiene kits in the affected areas. Additionally, the ground shaking and power outage caused by the earthquake have halted the water supply in Bogo City, leading to a shortage of drinking water. While the local government is distributing bottled drinking water from donations (from other municipalities, the central government, and private organizations), the quantity is limited, and addressing the water shortage is an immediate and critical challenge.

A-PAD Philippines will continue to assess the situation and needs in the affected areas and deliver necessary assistance promptly.
