【A-PAD Sri Lanka】Civil-Military Cooperation – Conducted Rescue Training
2020.03.06
A-PAD Sri Lanka is conducting rescue training from March 1-7 in the inland town of Kitulgala, a three-hour drive east from Sri Lanka’s capital city, Colombo. An overseas instructor is training 50 participants including Sri Lankan military personnel and volunteers. The training included a trek through mountains to a river and swift water rescue. Sri Lanka has many water-related disasters and this training was a good opportunity to apply public-partner collaboration.
It is critical for rescue team members to clearly understand the responsibilities of each member before each session. The participants are gaining knowledge and skills on how to save others while ensuring one’s own safety.
This training is funded by Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
