Two project coordinators from Civic Force arrived in Manila on November 15th, Friday, and met with CDRC staff to plan the logistics and procurement for the delivery of relief goods in Leyte province. Procurement of relief goods and packing supplies has begun, and the team is expecting to head for Cebu in the next few days to handle the transportation logistics of carrying the goods to Leyte. The team will also receive the shipment of 960 emergency tents from Japan in Cebu port. Civic Force and CDRC will head to Leyte from Cebu to deliver relief packs to 1,900 families in 3 municipalities in Leyte which have not yet been reached by other sources of aid. Relief packs will contain food, hygiene kits, sleeping mats, blankets, and plastic sheets. The emergency tents will also be distributed to 960 families. Each tent is big enough for a family of 5-10 persons.
KDRA also dispatched a team in Cebu and procurement is ongoing for the first batch of relief goods to be delivered in Tacloban on November 20th. KDRA and CDRC have also conducted assessment of needs in Leyte and Samar to determine the target areas that will benefit for the next batch of relief goods delivery.
Alliance member Corporate Network for Disaster Response (CNDR) ?will also be delivering pre-positioned non-food items to Compostela in Northern Cebu, one of the towns hit by Typhoon Haiyan. They are scheduled to deliver the goods from November 18-20. They are targeting to deliver to 750 families.
