【A-PAD Bangladesh】 8 Emergency Disaster Management Coordination Sub-Centers Established
2026.07.24
On July 2, 2026, A-PAD Management Office team conducted a monitoring trip to Cox’s Bazar and visited one of the new sub-centers of the Emergency Disaster Management Coordination Centre established this year.

Together with staff stationed in Cox’s Bazar and local volunteer members, the team checked the storage, equipment, and supplies for disaster medical assistance.

The team was also briefed on the structure of the steering committee comprised of community leaders, volunteers, local school officials, and Cyclone Preparedness Program (CPP) personnel, and the role of sub-centers during disasters.

A-PAD’s Emergency Disaster Management Coordination Center functions as a coordination platform among stakeholders in each region during disasters. During non-emergency times, it serves as a venue for disaster preparedness awareness campaigns and information sharing, and as a base for community-based activities. The establishment of sub-centers aims to provide even more decentralized support closer to community members.

The monitoring trip participants discussed with local stakeholders regarding the future use of the sub-center, including initial response during disasters, regional coordination, and activities related to disaster preparedness and public health during non-emergency times. A-PAD will continue to support strengthening community-based disaster response systems through partnerships with local actors.
This activity was implemented as part of a project to strengthen disaster management funded by the 2025 Japanese NGO Grant Assistance for Grassroots Project in Bangladesh.
