【A-PAD Japan】 Kumamoto Earthquake 2026 – Clothing and Cleaning Supplies Delivered to Evacuation Center

2026.08.01

While electricity is being restored in some areas, many areas are still without water in Kumamotor, and those affected are enduring the scorching summer heat and the risk of heatstroke. Civic Force has been continuing emergency relief activities in Hikawa Town, one of the areas most severely affected, since July 29.

On July 31, the team delivered heat-relief drinks, salt tablets, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, and clothing to two evacuation centers in Hikawa Town.

At one evacuation center, a bathing facility was set up starting today for evacuees experiencing water outages. Temporary showers provided by other municipalities were greatly appreciated by the evacuees who had not been able to bathe since earlier this week, and new clothing delivered by Civic Force were arranged on tables by type and size.

An evacuee who received cleaning supplies said “It was so dusty, so the cleaning supplies are a real lifesaver.”

Maintaining cleanliness and a comfortable environment in evacuation centers contributes to preventing infectious diseases, reducing stress, maintaining good health, and even preventing disaster-related deaths. Currently, cleaning supplies are in the highest demand at evacuation centers, and Civic Force plans to procure cleaning supplies to meet the needs of other shelters.
