【A-PAD Bangladesh】 Fire in Dhaka – Emergency Relief Activity Report

More than two months have passed since the devastating fire swept through the Korail slum in Dhaka, Bangladesh in November 2025.

A-PAD Bangladesh mobilized an emergency response team to provide life-saving assistance and essential care. Our team reached over 4,000 residents, distributing daily necessities including blankets, medicines, and providing free health checkups.

Activity Period: December 3, 2025 – January 2, 2026

Activities: 

  1. Cold Weather Support – A-PAD provided blankets to 150 people to protect them from the cold.
  2. Distribution of Relief Supplies – Clothing, hygiene products (soap, detergent, sanitary napkins), and daily necessities including mosquito nets, sandals, matches, candles, flashlights were distributed to 130 households
  3. Emergency Medical Support (Mobile Clinics) – Mobile clinics opened its doors to 3,900 people. Doctors, nurses, and volunteers provided checkups, medicines, and other services.

By prioritizing immediate medical support, A-PAD successfully addressed the acute health needs of those affected by the Korail fire. Our intervention was critical in minimizing seasonal health risks, specifically preventing the spread of respiratory and skin diseases common during the winter months. Our activities specifically protected socially vulnerable groups including women, children, and the elderly.
