Two weeks have passed since Cyclone Ditwa hit Sri Lanka on November 27, 2025, but many victims are still suffering from the effects of severe floods and landslides.

The full extent of the damage is becoming clearer with each passing day. According to the Disaster Management Center, as of December 11, the following damage figures have been confirmed:

• – 639 dead
• – 210 missing
• – 5,588 houses completely destroyed, 87,496 houses partially damaged
• – 26,563 households and 84,674 people evacuated
• – More than 1.7 million people affected

Many victims, especially those living in low-income urban communities, riverside areas, and mountainous regions in rural areas, have been forced to live in evacuation.

In addition, more than 100 medical facilities, including three major hospitals, have been severely damaged, as well as dams, canals, roads, and farmland across the country, causing major disruptions to medical, transportation, agricultural, electricity, and communications services throughout the region.

Furthermore, due to disruptions to transportation access caused by flooding and other factors, there are areas where assistance is not reaching everyone.

A-PAD Sri Lanka will continue to gather information on the extent of the damage and the needs of the affected areas, and will deliver necessary assistance as quickly as possible.
