On 21 October 2025, experts, policymakers, humanitarian leaders, and academics gathered in Dhaka, Bangladesh for the International Symposium on “Heating Planet, Conflict, and Crisis Management: Building Resilience and International Cooperation in a Changing World.”
The symposium, jointly organized by CIS and A-PAD, explored how climate change, political conflict, and humanitarian crises intersect—and how international and communal cooperation can foster resilience in vulnerable communities.
Remarks were delivered by Mr. Nobutaka Miyahara, Senior Advisor of A-PAD, alongside distinguished guests from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, and the Embassy of Japan.
Participants represented a broad range of sectors including government agencies, universities, NGOs, and the private sector, reflecting the multi-stakeholder spirit essential to effective disaster management.
The symposium featured two key panel sessions:
- Building Resilience in Climate-Vulnerable Communities through International Partnerships
Speakers from JICA, Kindai University, A-PAD Philippines, and Brac University shared innovative approaches to strengthening community resilience through global collaboration and sustainable development.
- Managing Conflict Sensitivity in Humanitarian Programming and Crisis Management Planning
Panelists discussed strategies for integrating conflict sensitivity into humanitarian operations, emphasizing the importance of adaptive and inclusive crisis response such as adopting new technology and using tools such as social media.
The event concluded with a stakeholder engagement and signing ceremony, affirming ongoing commitment to regional cooperation and shared resilience. By connecting diverse actors under one platform, this symposium reinforced the message that resilience and peace can only be achieved through collective, cross-sectoral action.
This symposium strengthened regional and global partnerships for disaster management and enhanced cooperation among humanitarian, academic, and private sectors.
