On October 10, a M7.4 earthquake, followed by a M6.8 earthquake, struck Mindanao in the southeastern Philippines. Parts of Mindanao and the Visayas Islands were severely shaken and there are concerns about aftershocks and secondary damage.

A-PAD Philippines began gathering information immediately after the disaster, working in close coordination with local partner organizations and volunteers. As of October 10, building damage, landslides, and power outages have occurred in various locations, and a tsunami warning was issued for areas including Leyte Island. Information on casualties is still being collected.

In response, A-PAD Philippines has expanded its emergency assistance in Mindanao and other affected areas. Anticipated immediate needs include food, drinking water, temporary shelters, and hygiene kits in addition to support for house repair and reconstruction and livelihood recovery.
