On May 26, a cyclone made landfall on the coasts of Bangladesh and India, bringing strong winds and heavy rain, knocking down utility poles and trees, causing power outages for millions of people. The cyclone crossed the coastal region of Mongla in Bangladesh and Sagar Island in West Bengal, India. Maximum wind speeds reached 135 km/h, and local media reported that at least 16 people were killed in both countries.

On the afternoon of May 26, the Bangladesh government moved approximately 800,000 people from coastal areas to evacuation centers, and up to 110,000 people were evacuated in India. Particularly in southwestern Bangladesh, large areas of villages were flooded, and many people were forced to evacuate in heavy rain, submerged in water up to their knees.

A-PAD also worked with medical partners in Dhaka and medical facilities in the affected areas to provide emergency medical assistance to those affected, especially pregnant women for prenatal care.

In addition, A-PAD Bangladesh continues to provide support to keep people safe, including removing fallen trees that are causing road closures, search and rescue for missing people, and supporting evacuation center management.
