The Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction was held in Brisbane, Australia from September 19 – 22, 2022 and was participated by more than 3,000 delegates from 40 countries.
This conference is held every two years in the Asia-Pacific region, attended by ministers, government officials from the region, private sector, civil society organizations, aid workers, and vulnerable groups. The delegates discussed the progress made on the Sendai Framework and action plans for the next two years.
This year’s theme was “From Crisis to Resilience: Transforming the Asia-Pacific Region’s Future through Disaster Risk Reduction.” The previous conference was postponed due to the pandemic and this was the first one in four years. The delegates discussed ways to reduce disasters, minimize economic impacts, and not leave anyone behind.
