The strongest typhoon of the year, Goni, made landfall on November 1 in the southeastern part of Luzon Island in the Philippines.  As of November 2, 10 people have died and 3 people are missing. Over 1,000,000 residents have evacuated so far, however, further casualties are anticipated due to landslides and flooding.
