A-PAD Management Office has dispatched two staff members to the collapsed Meethotamulla garbage dump in Colombo, Sri Lanka, to join the A-PAD Sri Lanka team that has been on the site while search and rescue and emergency response activities are on-going.
On April 14, an explosion resulted in a partial of the garbage dump to collapse, wiping out houses, burying many of them, trapping people inside. The total number of victims is still rising. As of April 18, thirty people found dead, dozens missing and several hundreds sheltered
We will update you with the progress on the ground soon, however, please take a look at the A-PAD Sri Lanka’s webpage for the team’s efforts on the ground.
