2025.12.02
On November 21, 2025, a magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck Narsingdi District, Bangladesh. At least 10 people were killed and over 500 were injured (Source: OCHA website).
In response to this emergency, the Community Initiative Society (CIS) and Dhaka Community Hospital Trust (DCH Trust), a managing body of A-PAD Bangladesh, immediately provided emergency medical assistance to the victims and supported the local community by raising awareness of aftershocks, identifying safe areas, and evacuating risk areas.
On November 25, a devastating fire broke out in Dhaka’s largest slum, Korail, destroying approximately 1,500 homes and leaving many families without shelter, food, and basic necessities.

In response, A-PAD Bangladesh immediately dispatched a team to the area to gather information and begin relief efforts. 50 volunteers assisted with evacuation, search-and-rescue, first aid, initial needs assessment, transportation to temporary shelters, and psychosocial support.
Mobile clinics are providing medical care as well as distributing plastic sheets and shelter kits (mosquito nets and rechargeable lights) for evacuees.
A-PAD Bangladesh is also working with local authorities to coordinate other response activities.
