Overview of the Earthquake and Damage

On September 30, 2025, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake struck Bogo City, Cebu Province, causing severe damage to infrastructure and residential areas. The damage was particularly serious in the areas of Barangay Anonang Norte and Barangay Anonang Sur.

  • – Halls, schools, health centers, and numerous houses were severely damaged, forcing residents to live in temporary shelters or tents.
  • – In Anonang Sur, a landslide blocked the river, causing nearby farms to be inundated and striking a blow to local farmers.
  • – A-PAD Philippines’ field survey revealed that the two barangays, due to their remote location and difficult access, had received little to no support from the Local Government Unit (LGU) or other private organizations, highlighting the critical need for emergency assistance.

Distribution of Relief Food

  • – A-PAD Philippines planned food distribution support in Anonang Norte and Anonang Sur in collaboration with the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM), the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), and Bogo City (LGU).
  • – On October 27, relief food packs, cooking oil, mung beans, and drinking water were distributed to a total of 1,071 households – 635 households in Anonang Norte and 436 households in Anonang Sur.
  • – Priority support was given to displaced victims sheltering in tents and to vulnerable households residing in restricted or no-build zones.

A-PAD Philippines will continue its activities to meet the needs of the affected areas. Thank you for your continued support.
