Sri Lanka experiences the monsoon season twice a year – the southwest monsoon period from May to September and the entire island experiences heavy rain from October to December.

In April, A-PAD Sri Lanka conducted a rescue drill focused on flood disasters at Handapanagala Lake in Wellawaya, Uva District, ahead of the monsoon season.

17 people participated in the training. This training aimed to maintain and improve skills and strengthen teamwork while reinforcing the knowledge and skills the participants had previously learned.

A-PAD is working hard to develop and expand the number of rescue personnel who can be active in disaster-stricken areas.
