【A-PAD Philippines】 Needs Assessments in Bogo City and San Remigio
2025.10.07
On October 2, 2025, an emergency survey team conducted damage and needs assessments in Bogo City and San Remigio, located in northern Cebu Province.
Bogo City
Bogo City, situated in the northern part of Cebu Island, consists of 29 Barangays (the smallest local government unit in the Philippines). Landslides that occurred in several barangays resulted in numerous casualties.
Some survivors are in temporary shelters set up in open fields. Furthermore, due to the earthquake and subsequent power outage, water supply is suspended in Bogo City, leading to a shortage of drinking water.
Local doctors also reported that primary water sources and wells are cloudy, necessitating the filtration of water before it can be used for bathing or household chores. Given the increasing medical needs in Bogo City, the Cebu Medical Society dispatched doctors to the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Bogo City starting October 1.
14 people lost their lives due to a landslide in Purok Libas, Barangay Binabag.
San Remigio
As most government facilities were severely damaged by the earthquake, a tent has been set up to serve as a Disaster Command Post. Survivors have also been seen taking refuge in modular tents.
At least 14 people were killed by collapsing buildings in San Remigio. With over 3,685 aftershocks already recorded, many residents are moving outdoors to avoid further damage.
The city also experienced a loss of water and power supply immediately following the disaster. Similar to Bogo City, water from the water district and wells is limited and unfit for drinking.
To address the medical needs of survivors, the local government has established medical tents. Patients are being treated using medicines donated by other local governments, but many supplies are still insufficient. Additionally, since electricity has not been fully restored, cold packs are needed for medicine preservation.

The assessments in these two cities confirmed an urgent need for water purifiers, cooked food, bedding sets, hygiene kits, temporary shelters, and medicine.
A-PAD Philippines will continue to work with partners, including the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the University of Cebu, and the Central Visayas Department of Health, to deliver swift assistance to the affected areas.
