The magnitude 7.9 earthquake struck the Himalayan nation of Nepal, with reports of extensive damages of property and loss of life. More than 7,000 people were killed and more than 14,000 injured. Tremors were felt in Bangladesh, China, Bhutan and India and at least three people were killed in Bangladesh. Continued aftershocks occurred throughout Nepal, with one shock reaching a magnitude of 6.7 on 26 April at NST. 80% of inhabitant have moved away from the city due to fear of epidemic (like swan flue) and look after the damaged Houses and their relation in the rural areas. In this scenario A-PAD Bangladesh,  DCH Trust took the initiative with the support of A-PAD MO to provide emergency health support.

When the medical team reached in Nepal at first we took the permission from Ministry of Health Nepal. After having the permission we immediately contacted and visited the local community and selected the targeted area (Mahadevstan VDC (Village Development Committee), Chandini Mandan VDC and Nayagaon Dewpur VDC of Kavre District of Nepal.). During the discussion with the local community we analyzed the local needs and considered the social aspect. So we assisted the earthquake affected people to treat and recover by community-based and other psycho social support.

Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management and Dhaka Community Hospital Trust successfully provided emergency health care service including health education, psycho social counseling and distribute water purification tablet and follow-up time to time most of the individual beneficiaries became cure from trauma, cut injury and general illness. Thus help them to do the economical activities and re-build the peace in the household level which is also effect to the society.

DCH Trust and A-PAD received Appreciation Certificate of Nepal Earthquake Response from Ministry of Health and Population, Government of Nepal for the Nepal Earthquake response 2015 which coordinated by A-PAD, Bangladesh.
