【A-PAD Philippines】Training on the Strategic Use of Social Media for Disasters

A-PAD Philippines conducted a training course titled “Effective Use of Social Media Communication in Disaster Prevention and Situations.” This training is one of the initiatives aimed at “Strengthening the Capacity of Human Resource Volunteer Networks” under the FY2024 Grant Assistance for Japanese NGO Projects. on the following dates and in the following areas.
Training in Soccsksargen (May 30)
Sixty volunteers (20 from each region), representing the Talent Network and partner organizations, participated in a training focused on the strategic use of social media for disaster preparedness and awareness. The training emphasized selecting and creating reliable content, and explored how real-time digital communication can enhance disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.
Training in the Bicol Region (May 17)
The training provided participants with a deeper understanding of social media’s role in disaster prevention and response. They also gained the ability to develop effective communication strategies tailored to each platform’s characteristics.
Training in Central Visayas (May 29)
Going forward, the volunteers will leverage their new skills to launch social media campaigns addressing critical issues like climate change adaptation and building community resilience.
