On May 20 – 22, 2024, A-PAD Indonesia held a BCP (Business Continuity Plan) facilitator training in Bali Province, Indonesia. Twenty people participated including youth group leaders.

The tourism industry is a major source of income for Tulamben Village, known as a popular diving spot, and there is an urgent need to strengthen the resilience of small and medium-sized enterprises, such as hotels, that support the tourism sector’s supply chain. Disaster preparedness and mitigation in tourist destinations are considered priorities in the national disaster prevention plan, but it is difficult to say that it is functioning optimally as each area is proceeding independently.

The training aimed to build capacity around BCP development among small and medium-sized enterprises.


The training was conducted in collaboration with Indonesia’s Economic Coordination Agency, Bali Provincial Disaster Management Bureau, Kalang Assam District Disaster Management Bureau, and Kalang Assam Municipality. On the first day, participants learned about the history of industry and disasters in Kalang Assam and on the second day they learned how the supply chain is impacted. The participants visited small businesses on day 3 and conducted assessments to develop a BCP before sharing lessons-learned with other participants.
