Around 1:50PM (local time) on January 15, 2022, the massive undersea Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha’apai volcano erupted and triggered tsunami waves of over 1 meter high.  Strong currents and high waves are expected and local residents are advised to evacuate to higher grounds.
