This year again, a series of disasters struck Asia and affected the lives of many.  In Japan, starting with the Northern Kyushu Heavy Rain, several typhoons hit the country. The heavy rain also killed more than 100 people in South Asia including Nepal and Bangladesh. In Korea, there are still people who cannot return to their homes after the wildfires in April. In Sri Lanka, which is affected by monsoons each year, A-PAD organized a DRR workshop despite the rising tension due to the terrorist attacks in April and promoted the importance of protecting lives and overcoming religious and ethnic barriers. In the Philippines, which is prone to natural disasters, six regional platforms have been established and are providing assistance activities for typhoons, earthquakes, and fires.

In 2019, A-PAD strived to respond to many natural disasters. Our activities are supported by your prompt and tremendous support. We would like to once again send our sincere gratitude to our supporters.

A-PAD’s Tokyo office is closed for the new year holidays from December 28, 2019 to January 5, 2020. We will open on Monday, January 6, 2020.

In case of large-scale disasters during the holiday, A-PAD will be ready to respond immediately and provide disaster victim assistance.
We wish you all the best in the coming year.
