Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management Sri Lanka (A-PAD SL) in its initiative to reach out to those affected by the floods, carried out yet another project named SMILE, amongst many others. The first phase of the project being the distribution of Primary School Kits, consisting of school shoes, bags and stationary material was handed over to the Oruwala Vidyalaya, Athurugiriya.

“I am very thankful to all the uncles and aunties from A-PAD for giving us these valuable gifts. We really like them” beamed a school boy.

A total of 76 children received this school kit. It was evident to us upon learning that most of the children from Oruwala Vidyalaya were affected by the floods and appreciated this benevolent act of generosity.

The initiative was supported by individuals and corporate partners who played a large role in spreading smiles of satisfaction.
