What is A-PAD Philippines?

It is a platform, a framework for collaboration, cooperation and pooling of efforts and sharing of resources between humanitarian organizations, CSOs, private sector, and government units in delivering emergency response and early recovery services and in undertaking projects for rehabilitation, disaster risk reduction and addressing the vulnerabilities of peoples and communities.

How A-PAD Philippines operates?

CDRC would take on the secretariat functions of A-PAD-Philippines. As such, it would take responsibility for entering into bilateral and multilateral relationships with organizations, institutions, agencies, groups and individuals, under the platform of A-PAD Philippines, for the purpose of delivering emergency response and early recovery services and undertaking projects for rehabilitation, disaster risk reduction and addressing the vulnerabilities of peoples and communities.

Who could be part of A-PAD?

Organizations or groups can be an A-PAD partner as long as they are committed to engage in disaster risk reduction and management, to take action on addressing vulnerabilities of peoples and communities, and to subscribe to the core values of A-PAD namely:

STEWARDSHIP: All activities and projects are done without harming the environment. A-PAD undertakes projects that would rehabilitate the environment as part of mitigating the impact of and eventually preventing disasters.

SERVICE: A-PAD services, projects, and activities are for the least served and most vulnerable groups.

VOLUNTEERISM: A-PAD harnesses and relies on the “bayanihan” spirit of Filipinos.

HUMAN DIGNITY: The dignity of human beings – be it victims, beneficiaries, partners and colleagues – are respected at all times.

GOOD GOVERNANCE: A-PAD Philippines promotes and practices the eight principles of good governance in all its endeavors namely: accountability, transparency, responsiveness, equitability and inclusiveness, effectiveness and efficiency, respect for the rule of law, participation, and consensus building.

RESPECT: A-PAD Philippines is sensitive to cultures, norms, values, and processes of peoples and communities.

BELIEF IN THE CAPACITY OF PEOPLE: A-PAD Philippines ensures that its services, projects and activities are empowering and builds on the capacities of peoples to respond to, manage, and prevent disasters.

All those who have participated in projects and activities under the platform of A-PAD Philippines are A-PAD partners.
